Enhanced Residential Services
Enhanced Residential Services is a highly structured, intensive focused treatment approach for youth who have a DSM-5 diagnosis primary psychiatric disorder and meets the criteria for medical necessity per Medicaid. Prior to admission, the documented youth’s behaviors and symptoms confirm impaired ability to sustain adequate functioning at home, school and community, and to be unmanageable in a less intensive treatment program.
Treatment is based on the following:
- Intensity, duration and chronicity of the behaviors and symptoms
- Trauma history
- Independent Assessment, Certification, and Coordination Team (IACCT) approval and recommendation
From the identified treatment goals, a Comprehensive Individualized Plan of Care (CIPOC) and an Individualized Instructional Plan (IIP) are developed for each youth with specific objectives.
Services include:
- Active involvement and clinical review by psychiatrist
- Lower staff to student ratios
- Clinical counseling facilitated by licensed practitioners providing multiple weekly individual counseling sessions and weekly family sessions
- Multiple daily scheduled therapeutic activities aligned with individualized plan and guided by evidence-based curricula
- Developmental-behavioral support program
- Trauma-informed care recognizing triggers and fostering the youth’s awareness and skill in identifying, understanding, tolerating, and managing their internal experience
- Educational services in supportive, structured setting
- Medication management
- Aftercare recommendations
