CTE Trades Academy at Timber Ridge School to Open January 2023

Building rendering for the new CTE Trades Academy for career and technical programming for boys and young men

Timber Ridge School has had a vocational education program for many years. The new CTE Trades Academy will expand that program with the new 4,000-square-foot building.

The vision for the Trades Academy was developed by Dr. John Lamanna and the campaign to fund it began in 2017. In the fall of 2021, the capital campaign met its goal of $1.1 million. Excavation will began the first week of July.

The concept behind the vision is to provide a career path for the TRS students who are not college bound and are interested in learning a trade. The Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia and the Northern Shenandoah Valley are home to many manufacturing and distribution facilities that need qualified employees. Our program will partner with many of them to provide a pathway for our students to succeed.

Residential carpentry, forklift operations and welding are the first programs to be offered next year.
